Begin Your Adventure

I am a strong believer that all children and adults can become life-long readers. My instruction for teaching reading uses a multi-sensory approach. Together goals are set and student performance is regularly tracked to ensure good progress is being made.

About Carolyn

I am a retired elementary teacher of 21 years. The last eleven years of my career were spent teaching a diverse population of second language students. Throughout my career, my passion has always been to give the gift of reading.

Since retiring, I have been working in elementary schools private tutoring students and teaching adults. The students I have had the privilege of working with struggle with reading disabilities such as dyslexia or are second language learners.

I currently hold Bachelor’s degree in education and a Master’s degree in literacy with a specialty in reading. I am a Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner and hold a certification in Orton-Gillingham.

What I Teach & Why

I love teaching people of all ages. Everyone has the right to enjoy reading. Whether you are a reader that needs tutoring support or struggling with other reading difficulties such as dyslexia, comprehension weakness, or understanding the alphabet code to read words, I can help you grow as a reader.

I have years of experience working with students with a wide range of learning needs. I am a certified practitioner for Wilson Reading and Orton-Gillingham. These programs are structured for language instruction, multi-sensory, and success oriented. They meet the different learning needs for students of all ages. I also pull from many other sources to meet each individual’s reading needs.
